Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man and in high favor with his master because by him the Lord had given victory to Aram. The man, though a mighty warrior, suffered from a skin disease.


When I was a son with my father, tender and my mother’s favorite,


For jealousy arouses a husband’s fury, and he will show no restraint when he takes revenge.


My child, keep my words and store up my commandments with you;


She seizes him and kisses him, and with impudent face she says to him:


Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth,


Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If one offered for love all the wealth of one’s house, it would be utterly scorned.


See, I am stirring up the Medes against them, who have no regard for silver and do not delight in gold.


And so people are humbled, and everyone is brought low— [[do not forgive them!


so I make you despised and humbled before all the people, inasmuch as you have not kept my ways but have shown partiality in your instruction.
