The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one other by whom we may inquire of the Lord, Micaiah son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he never prophesies anything favorable about me but only disaster.” Jehoshaphat said, “Let the king not say such a thing.”


They say to God, ‘Leave us alone! We do not desire to know your ways.


“How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?


A wise child loves discipline, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.


A scoffer seeks wisdom in vain, but knowledge is easy for one who understands.


There is severe discipline for one who forsakes the way; one who hates a rebuke will die.


They hate the one who reproves in the gate, and they abhor the one who speaks the truth.


The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify against it that its works are evil.


For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound teaching, but, having their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires
