But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why are you putting me to the test, you hypocrites?


Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye but do not notice the log in your own eye?


Or how can you say to your neighbor, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while the log is in your own eye?


“Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under foot and turn and maul you.


You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?


But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it to water?


He said to them, “Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, ‘Doctor, cure yourself!’ And you will say, ‘Do here also in your hometown the things that we have heard you did at Capernaum.’ ”


Or how can you say to your neighbor, ‘Friend, let me take out the speck in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye.


But the evil spirit said to them in reply, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”
