By insolence the empty-headed person makes strife, but wisdom is with those who take advice.


He said to them, “You will indeed drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left, this is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”


But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them.


But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.


When the ten heard this, they began to be angry with James and John.


But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the Sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured and not on the Sabbath day.”


Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant


Do nothing from selfish ambition or empty conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.


But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not be arrogant and lie about the truth.


In the same way, you who are younger must be subject to the elders. And all of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
