He called a child, whom he put among them,


Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.


but Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”


Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven.


For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished.


For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.


“And whenever you fast, do not look somber, like the hypocrites, for they mark their faces to show others that they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.


“So whenever you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be praised by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.


“And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.


in order that ‘they may indeed look but not perceive, and may indeed hear but not understand; so that they may not turn again and be forgiven.’ ”


“Strive to enter through the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able.


but I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail, and you, when once you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”


And he said to him, “Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”


Jesus answered him, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.”


Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.


There they strengthened the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying, “It is through many persecutions that we must enter the kingdom of God.”


For this people’s heart has grown dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might look with their eyes and listen with their ears and understand with their heart and turn— and I would heal them.’


Repent, therefore, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out,


Brothers and sisters, do not be children in your thinking; rather, be infants in evil, but in thinking be adults.


Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation—


For in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you.
