Now at the festival the governor was accustomed to release a prisoner for the crowd, anyone whom they wanted.


He left that place and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan. And crowds again gathered around him, and, as was his custom, he again taught them.


Now a man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder during the insurrection.


Then he answered them, “Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?”
