“Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.


But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.


Then it goes and brings along seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and live there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So will it be also with this evil generation.”

He answered them, “You faithless generation, how much longer must I be with you? How much longer must I put up with you? Bring him to me.”


Then he said to them, “Where is your faith?” They were terrified and amazed and said to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water and they obey him?”


I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.”


While he was being brought forward, the demon dashed him to the ground in convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.


Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?


Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.”


For about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness.


And he testified with many other arguments and exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”


Or do you despise the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not realize that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?


yet his degenerate children have dealt falsely with him, a perverse and crooked generation.


So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.


Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs.


For indeed the good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them because they were not united by faith with those who listened.


Consequently, he is able for all time to save those who approach God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
