There he made his home in a town called Nazareth, so that what had been spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled, “He will be called a Nazarene.”


When they had finished everything required by the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.


And when he was twelve years old, they went up as usual for the festival.


Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them, and his mother treasured all these things in her heart.


He began to teach in their synagogues and was praised by everyone.

He said to them, “Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, ‘Doctor, cure yourself!’ And you will say, ‘Do here also in your hometown the things that we have heard you did at Capernaum.’ ”


Jesus answered, “I have spoken openly to the world; I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all the Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret.


And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days argued with them from the scriptures,
