I am silent; I do not open my mouth, for it is you who have done it.


He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.


But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he did not answer.


But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed.


“Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under foot and turn and maul you.


But Jesus made no further reply, so that Pilate was amazed.


He said to them, “Go and tell that fox for me, ‘Listen, I am casting out demons and performing cures today and tomorrow, and on the third day I finish my work.


The chief priests and the scribes stood by vehemently accusing him.


He entered his headquarters again and asked Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.


Now the passage of the scripture that he was reading was this: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter, and like a lamb silent before its shearer, so he does not open his mouth.


When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.
