Did the baptism of John come from heaven, or was it of human origin?” And they argued with one another, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Why, then, did you not believe him?’


When the harvest time had come, he sent his slaves to the tenants to collect his produce.


Every day he was teaching in the temple. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people kept looking for a way to kill him,


Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’


So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?


When the scribes and chief priests realized that he had told this parable against them, they wanted to lay hands on him at that very hour, but they feared the people.


They discussed it with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why did you not believe him?’


The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put Jesus to death, for they were afraid of the people.


this man, handed over to you according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of those outside the law.


and you killed the author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.


and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if we in fact suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.


but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom he also created the worlds.
