Then he said to me, “Mortal, I am going to cut off the supply of bread in Jerusalem; they shall eat bread by weight and with fearfulness, and they shall drink water by measure and in dismay.


Lacking bread and water, they will look at one another in dismay and waste away under their punishment.


when I loose against you my deadly arrows of famine, arrows for destruction, which I will let loose to destroy you, and when I bring more and more famine upon you and cut off your supply of bread.

You shall eat but not be satisfied, and there shall be a gnawing hunger within you; you shall put away but not save, and what you save, I will hand over to the sword.


You have sown much and harvested little; you eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and you that earn wages earn wages to put them into a bag with holes.
