from the nations concerning which the Lord had said to the Israelites, “You shall not enter into marriage with them, neither shall they with you, for they will surely incline your heart to follow their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love.


For when Solomon was old, his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not true to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.


But those who turn aside to their own crooked ways, the Lord will lead away with evildoers. Peace be upon Israel!


The words of their mouths are mischief and deceit; they have ceased to act wisely and do good.


Woe, sinful nation, people laden with iniquity, offspring who do evil, children who act corruptly, who have forsaken the Lord, who have despised the Holy One of Israel, [[who are utterly estranged!]]


But when the righteous turn away from their righteousness and commit iniquity and do the same abominable things that the wicked do, shall they live? None of the righteous deeds that they have done shall be remembered, for the treachery of which they are guilty and the sin they have committed, they shall die.


those who have turned back from following the Lord, who have not sought the Lord or inquired of him.


Then it goes and brings along seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and live there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So will it be also with this evil generation.”


Because of this many of his disciples turned back and no longer went about with him.


Let love be genuine; hate what is evil; hold fast to what is good;


because the Lord your God, who is present with you, is a jealous God. The anger of the Lord your God would be kindled against you and he would destroy you from the face of the earth.


Do not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons,


for that would turn away your children from following me, to serve other gods. Then the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly.


Be very careful, therefore, to love the Lord your God.


Whoever says, “I am in the light,” while hating a brother or sister, is still in the darkness.


But his father and mother said to him, “Is there not a woman among your kin or among all our people, that you must go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, because she pleases me.”


and they took their daughters as wives for themselves, and their own daughters they gave to their sons, and they served their gods.
