Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear,


Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.


Then Naaman said, “If not, please let two mule loads of earth be given to your servant, for your servant will no longer offer burnt offering or sacrifice to any god except the Lord.


Therefore mortals fear him; he does not regard any who are wise in their own conceit.”


And let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices and tell of his deeds with songs of joy.


I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.


Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High.


When you make a vow to God, do not delay fulfilling it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Fulfill what you vow.


My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.


Do you not fear me? says the Lord; Do you not tremble before me? I placed the sand as a boundary for the sea, a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass; though the waves toss, they cannot prevail; though they roar, they cannot pass over it.


I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people shall tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: For he is the living God, enduring forever. His kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion has no end.


Then the men were even more afraid and said to him, “What is this that you have done!” For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them so.


Then they cried out to the Lord, “Please, O Lord, we pray, do not let us perish on account of this man’s life. Do not make us guilty of innocent blood, for you, O Lord, have done as it pleased you.”


It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth,


And great fear seized the whole church and all who heard of these things.


The angel of the Lord said to Manoah, “If you detain me, I will not eat your food, but if you want to prepare a burnt offering, then offer it to the Lord.” (For Manoah did not know that he was the angel of the Lord.)
