After these things God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”


But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”


And now your eyes and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see that it is my own mouth that speaks to you.


When the Lord saw that he had turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”


The Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have asked, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.”


Scarcely had I passed them, when I found him whom my soul loves. I held him and would not let him go until I brought him into my mother’s house and into the chamber of her that conceived me.


I was sleeping, but my heart was awake. The sound of my beloved knocking! “Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one, for my head is wet with dew, my locks with the drops of the night.”


But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.


But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”


Then Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “My teacher, let me see again.”


But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things,


When Jesus turned and saw them following, he said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher), “where are you staying?”


Nathanael replied, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”


The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.


When she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary and told her privately, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.”


You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for that is what I am.


Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”


He came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with that person.”

He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”


Now the Lord came and stood there, calling as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”


The Lord called again, “Samuel!” Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, my son; lie down again.”
