After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.


And suddenly there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.


Then Joseph bought a linen cloth and, taking down the body, wrapped it in the linen cloth and laid it in a tomb that had been hewn out of rock. He then rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.


Now after he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.


Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it.


So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, “Father, I thank you for having heard me.


And that is what the soldiers did. Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.


A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”


On the first day of the week, when we met to break bread, Paul was holding a discussion with them; since he intended to leave the next day, he continued speaking until midnight.


On the first day of every week, each of you is to put aside and save whatever extra you earn, so that collections need not be taken when I come.
