As the Lord your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom to which my lord has not sent to seek you, and when they would say, ‘He is not here,’ he would require an oath of the kingdom or nation that they had not found you.


But I said, “Should a man like me run away? Would a man like me go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in!”


Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident.


I am not afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.


The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.


From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and undergo great suffering at the hands of the elders and chief priests and scribes and be killed and on the third day be raised.


“You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”


and while they were eating he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”


Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away because of me this night, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’


Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.”


Now before the festival of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.


For he knew who was to betray him; for this reason he said, “Not all of you are clean.”


They answered, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus replied, “I am he.” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.


Again he asked them, “Whom are you looking for?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”


After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty.”


But among you there are some who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who were the ones who did not believe and who was the one who would betray him.


You have made known to me the ways of life; you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’


Since, therefore, Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same intention (for whoever has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin),
