Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted the heel against me.

and while they were eating he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”


He answered, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.


When it was evening, he came with the twelve.


And when they had taken their places and were eating, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me.”


He said to them, “It is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread into the bowl with me.


But see, the one who betrays me is with me, and his hand is on the table.


After saying this Jesus was troubled in spirit and declared, “Very truly, I tell you, one of you will betray me.”


The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he was speaking.


Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” So when he had dipped the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas son of Simon Iscariot.


You did not choose me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.


If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. Because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.


It was to fulfill the word that is written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’


While I was with them, I protected them in your name that you have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the one destined to be lost, so that the scripture might be fulfilled.


(This was to fulfill what Jesus had said when he indicated the kind of death he was to die.)


So they said to one another, “Let us not tear it but cast lots for it to see who will get it.” This was to fulfill what the scripture says, “They divided my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast lots.”


These things occurred so that the scripture might be fulfilled, “None of his bones shall be broken.”


He said to him the third time, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” And he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.


Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.”


“Brothers and sisters, the scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit through David foretold concerning Judas, who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus,


until the day when he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.


For we do not proclaim ourselves; we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’s sake.


And before him no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bare to the eyes of the one to whom we must render an account.


and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.
