Thomas, who was called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”


But when Jesus heard it, he said, “This illness does not lead to death; rather, it is for God’s glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”


Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not for mine.


And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth.


Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee and revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.


Indeed, everything is for your sake, so that grace, when it has extended to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.


Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, so that they may also obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.


I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
