Your hands fashioned and made me, and now you turn and destroy me.


I was at ease, and he broke me in two; he seized me by the neck and dashed me to pieces; he set me up as his target;


He bursts upon me again and again; he rushes at me like a warrior.


though there is no violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure.


They sat with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his suffering was very great.


The Lord said to the accuser, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man who fears God and turns away from evil. He still persists in his integrity, although you incited me against him, to destroy him for no reason.”


So the accuser went out from the presence of the Lord and inflicted loathsome sores on Job from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.


“As God lives, who has taken away my right, and the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter,


You lift me up on the wind, you make me ride on it, and you toss me about in the roar of the storm.


Look, he finds occasions against me; he counts me as his enemy;


in spite of being right I am counted a liar; my wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.’


If I summoned him and he answered me, I do not believe that he would listen to my voice.


Do not let those who wait for you be put to shame; let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.


The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.


Deep calls to deep at the thunder of your torrents; all your waves and your billows have gone over me.


so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your hurricane.


And I will make justice the line and righteousness the plummet; hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and waters will overwhelm the shelter.


Look, the storm of the Lord! Wrath has gone forth, a whirling tempest; it will burst upon the head of the wicked.


Therefore thus says the Lord God: In my wrath I will make a stormy wind break out, and in my anger there shall be a deluge of rain and hailstones in wrath to destroy it.


He will not break a bruised reed or quench a smoldering wick until he brings justice to victory.


The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its fall!”


It was to fulfill the word that is written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’


Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God’s works might be revealed in him.
