Abraham said, “I did it because I thought, Surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.


And when the feast days had run their course, Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all, for Job said, “It may be that my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This is what Job always did.


But you are doing away with the fear of God and hindering meditation before God.


I could encourage you with my mouth, and the solace of my lips would assuage your pain.


Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you my friends, for the hand of God has touched me!


A friend loves at all times, and kinsfolk are born to share adversity.


Like a bad tooth or a lame foot is trust in a faithless person in time of trouble.

But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?


Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.


If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.


Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to stumble, and I am not indignant?


Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.


Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them, those who are being tortured, as though you yourselves were being tortured.
