Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of heaven,


though they are loath to let it go and hold it in their mouths,


yet their food is turned in their stomachs; it is the venom of asps within them.


On the wicked he will rain coals of fire and sulfur; a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.


Then Moses stretched out his staff toward heaven, and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and fire came down on the earth. And the Lord rained hail on the land of Egypt;


My mind reels; horror has appalled me; the twilight I longed for has been turned for me into trembling.


I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth on all loins and baldness on every head; I will make it like the mourning for an only son and the end of it like a bitter day.


If you will not listen, if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse on you, and I will curse your blessings; indeed, I have already cursed them because you do not lay it to heart.


And say to the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat, for you have wailed in the hearing of the Lord, saying, “If only we had meat to eat! Surely it was better for us in Egypt.” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat.


But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was consumed, the anger of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord struck the people with a very great plague.
