Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight; none was left but the tribe of Judah alone.


The Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel; he punished them and gave them into the hand of plunderers, until he had banished them from his presence.


until the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, as he had foretold through all his servants the prophets. So Israel was exiled from their own land to Assyria until this day.

He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God; he stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the Lord, the God of Israel.


so that a search may be made in the annals of your ancestors. You will discover in the annals that this is a rebellious city, hurtful to kings and provinces, and that sedition was stirred up in it from long ago. On that account this city was laid waste.


When a land rebels it has many rulers; but with an intelligent person, honesty endures.


Alas for you, O land, when your king is a child and your princes feast in the morning!


I will deliver the Egyptians into the hand of a hard master; a fierce king will rule over them, says the Sovereign, the Lord of hosts.


For now the Sovereign, the Lord of hosts, is taking away from Jerusalem and from Judah support and staff— all support of bread and all support of water—


Do you think that mere words are strategy and power for war? On whom, then, do you now rely, that you have rebelled against me?


Then the Lord said to me: Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my heart would not turn toward this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go!


And I will cast you out of my sight, just as I cast out all your kinsfolk, all the offspring of Ephraim.
