For the Lord of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up and high;


See, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, O rock of the plain, says the Lord; you who say, “Who can come down against us, or who can enter our places of refuge?”


We have heard of the pride of Moab— he is very proud— of his loftiness, his pride, and his arrogance, and the haughtiness of his heart.


The terror you inspire and the pride of your heart have deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill. Although you make your nest as high as the eagle’s, from there I will bring you down, says the Lord.


Summon archers against Babylon, all who bend the bow. Encamp all around her; let no one escape. Repay her according to her deeds; just as she has done, do to her—for she has arrogantly defied the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.


The arrogant one shall stumble and fall, with no one to raise him up, and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it will devour everything around him.


I am against you, O destroying mountain, says the Lord, that destroys the whole earth; I will stretch out my hand against you and roll you down from the crags and make you a burned-out mountain.


speak and say: Thus says the Lord God: I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon sprawling in the midst of its channels, saying, “My Nile is my own; I made it for myself.”


and say: Thus says the Lord God: I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal;


And you, mortal, prophesy against Gog and say: Thus says the Lord God: I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal!


therefore thus says the Lord God: I, I myself, am coming against you; I will execute judgments among you in the sight of the nations.


See, I am against you, says the Lord of hosts, and I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall be heard no more.


I am against you, says the Lord of hosts, and will lift up your skirts over your face, and I will let nations look on your nakedness and kingdoms on your shame.


But God gives all the more grace; therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”


In the same way, you who are younger must be subject to the elders. And all of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”


therefore her plagues will come in a single day— pestilence and mourning and famine— and she will be burned with fire, for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.”
