The descendants of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshech.


There was once a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.


A mixed crowd also went up with them and livestock in great numbers, both flocks and herds.


In the year that the commander-in-chief, who was sent by King Sargon of Assyria, came to Ashdod and fought against it and took it—


all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the mixed peoples that live in the desert;


Send them to the king of Edom, the king of Moab, the king of the Ammonites, the king of Tyre, and the king of Sidon by the hand of the envoys who have come to Jerusalem to King Zedekiah of Judah.


A sword against her horses and against her chariots and against all the foreign troops in her midst, so that they may become women! A sword against her treasures, that they may be plundered!


Rejoice and be glad, O daughter Edom, you that live in the land of Uz; but to you also the cup shall pass; you shall become drunk and strip yourself bare.


Cush and Put and Lud and all the mixed populations and Libya and the people of the allied land shall fall with them by the sword.


Judah took Gaza with its territory, Ashkelon with its territory, and Ekron with its territory.


These are the gold tumors that the Philistines returned as a guilt offering to the Lord: one for Ashdod, one for Gaza, one for Ashkelon, one for Gath, one for Ekron;
