19 Therefore thus says the Lord: If you turn back, I will take you back, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious and not what is worthless, you shall serve as my mouth. It is they who will turn to you, not you who will turn to them.

Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”

Its priests have done violence to my teaching and have profaned my holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they taught the difference between the unclean and the clean, and they have disregarded my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.


They shall teach my people the difference between the holy and the common and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.


You are to distinguish between the holy and the common and between the unclean and the clean,


to determine when it is unclean and when it is clean. This is the rule for defiling diseases.”


“Get up, go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.”


“Thus says the Lord of hosts: If you will walk in my ways and keep my requirements, then you shall rule my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you the right of access among those who are standing here.


The angel replied, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.


“Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me, and whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”


for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what you ought to say.”


for I will give you words and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict.


Be alert at all times, praying that you may have the strength to escape all these things that will take place and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Now to him who is able to keep you from falling and to make you stand without blemish in the presence of his glory with rejoicing,
