The king of Israel answered, “Enough! One who puts on armor should not brag like one who takes it off.”


Be assured, the wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will escape.


Therefore the word of the Lord will be to them, “Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little,” in order that they may go and fall backward and be broken and snared and taken.


Then the angel of the Lord set out and struck down one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians; when morning dawned, they were all dead bodies.


If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you.


Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, as you have been; do not be afraid of him, says the Lord, for I am with you, to save you and to rescue you from his hand.


Prepare buckler and shield, and advance for battle!

Be ready and keep ready, you and all the companies that are assembled around you, and take command of them.


After many days you shall be mustered; in the latter years you shall go against a land restored from war, a land where people were gathered from many nations on the mountains of Israel, which had long lain waste; its people were brought out from the nations and now are living in safety, all of them.


All these kings joined their forces and came and camped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.
