Let their table be a trap for them, a snare for their allies.


The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.


For you have been a refuge to the poor, a refuge to the needy in their distress, a shelter from the rainstorm and a shade from the heat. When the blast of the ruthless was like a winter rainstorm,


Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the wrath is past.


therefore thus says the Lord God, “See, I am laying in Zion a foundation stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation: ‘One who trusts will not panic.’


It will serve as a pavilion, a shade by day from the heat and a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain.


We grope like the blind along a wall, groping like those who have no eyes; we stumble at noon as in the twilight, among the vigorous as though we were dead.


For before the child knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land before whose two kings you are in dread will be deserted.


Therefore thus says the Lord: See, I am laying before this people stumbling blocks against which they shall stumble; parents and children together, neighbor and friend shall perish.


Therefore say: Thus says the Lord God: Though I removed them far away among the nations and though I scattered them among the countries, yet I have been a sanctuary to them for a little while in the countries where they have gone.


Again, if the righteous turn from their righteousness and commit iniquity and I lay a stumbling block before them, they shall die; because you have not warned them, they shall die for their sin, and their righteous deeds that they have done shall not be remembered, but their blood I will require at your hand.


And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “Prophets are not without honor except in their own hometown and in their own house.”


The one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone on whom it falls.”


Then Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, “This child is destined for the falling and the rising of many in Israel and to be a sign that will be opposed


like a trap. For it will come upon all who live on the face of the whole earth.


“Or who has given a gift to him, to receive a gift in return?”


So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the fighting force with him, all the mighty warriors.


and “A stone that makes them stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.
