The foot tramples it, the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy.


The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord, and the neediest people shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.


Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel: Because you reject this word and put your trust in oppression and deceit and rely on them,


For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the people of Judah are his cherished garden; he expected justice but saw bloodshed; righteousness but heard a cry!


You fast only to quarrel and to fight and to strike with a wicked fist. Such fasting as you do today will not make your voice heard on high.


Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard; they have trampled down my portion; they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.


Like a cage full of birds, their houses are full of treachery; therefore they have become great and rich;


oppresses the poor and needy, commits robbery, does not restore the pledge, lifts up his eyes to the idols, commits abomination,


and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.


As I entered into judgment with your ancestors in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you, says the Lord God.


When you make a sale to your neighbor or buy from your neighbor, you shall not cheat one another.

Can I forget the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked and the despicable false measure?


“Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a winepress in it, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to tenants and went away.


But you have dishonored the poor person. Is it not the rich who oppress you? Is it not they who drag you into the courts?
