The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh in the land of Shinar.


The descendants of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.


And as they migrated from the east, they came upon a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.


In the days of King Amraphel of Shinar, King Arioch of Ellasar, King Chedorlaomer of Elam, and King Tidal of Goiim,


The name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one that flows around the whole land of Cush.


The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim and placed them in the cities of Samaria in place of the people of Israel; they took possession of Samaria and settled in its cities.


King Ahasuerus laid tribute on the land and on the islands of the sea.


The Lord said, “I will bring them back from Bashan; I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,


If the Lord of hosts had not left us a few survivors, we would have been like Sodom and become like Gomorrah.


On that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no longer lean on the one who struck them but will lean on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.


Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus?


so there shall be a highway from Assyria for the remnant that is left of his people, as there was for Israel when they came up from the land of Egypt.


The Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians will know the Lord on that day and will serve with sacrifice and offerings, and they will make vows to the Lord and perform them.


The Lord will strike Egypt, striking but healing, so that they will return to the Lord, and he will listen to their supplications and heal them.


A stern vision is told to me; the betrayer betrays, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, O Elam; lay siege, O Media; all the sighing she has caused I bring to an end.


Elam bore the quiver with chariots and cavalry, and Kir uncovered the shield.


Therefore in the east give glory to the Lord; in the coastlands of the sea glorify the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.


The surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward,


Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the end of the earth! Let the sea roar and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants.


Let them give glory to the Lord and declare his praise in the coastlands.


He will not grow faint or be crushed until he has established justice in the earth, and the coastlands wait for his teaching.


Thus says the Lord: The wealth of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush and the Sabeans, tall of stature, shall come over to you and be yours; they shall follow you; they shall come over in chains and bow down to you. They will make supplication to you, saying, “God is with you alone, and there is no other; there is no god besides him.”


Look, some shall come from far away, some from the north and from the west, and some from the land of Syene.


and I will set a sign among them. From them I will send survivors to the nations, to Tarshish, Put, and Lud, to Meshech, Tubal, and Javan, to the coastlands far away that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory, and they shall declare my glory among the nations.


all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Media;


Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands far away; say, “He who scattered Israel will gather him and will keep him as a shepherd does a flock.”


The word that came to Jeremiah for all the Judeans living in the land of Egypt, at Migdol, at Tahpanhes, at Memphis, and in the land of Pathros:


Concerning Damascus. Hamath and Arpad are confounded, for they have heard bad news; they melt in fear; they are troubled like the sea that cannot be quiet.


From oaks of Bashan they made your oars; they made your deck of pines from the coasts of Cyprus, inlaid with ivory.


and I will restore the fortunes of Egypt and bring them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin, and there they shall be a lowly kingdom.


I will make Pathros a desolation and will set fire to Zoan and will execute acts of judgment on Thebes.


Elam is there and all its hordes around its grave, all of them killed, fallen by the sword, who went down uncircumcised into the world below, who spread terror in the land of the living. They bear their shame with those who go down to the Pit.


After many days you shall be mustered; in the latter years you shall go against a land restored from war, a land where people were gathered from many nations on the mountains of Israel, which had long lain waste; its people were brought out from the nations and now are living in safety, all of them.


The Lord gave King Jehoiakim of Judah into his power, as well as some of the vessels of the house of God. These he brought to the land of Shinar, and he placed the vessels in the treasury of his gods.


Afterward he shall turn to the coastlands and shall capture many, but a commander shall put an end to his insolence; indeed, he shall turn his insolence back upon him.


In the vision I saw myself in Susa the capital, in the province of Elam, and I was by the Ulai Gate.


The people of Judah and the people of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint for themselves one head, and they shall rise up from the land, for great shall be the day of Jezreel.


They shall go after the Lord, who roars like a lion; when he roars, his children shall come trembling from the west.


They shall come trembling like birds from Egypt and like doves from the land of Assyria, and I will return them to their homes, says the Lord.


On that day they will come to you from Assyria to Egypt and from Egypt to the River, from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain.


The Lord will be terrible against them; he will shrivel all the gods of the earth, and to him shall bow down each in its place, all the coasts and islands of the nations.


He said to me, “To the land of Shinar, to build a house for it, and when this is prepared, they will set it down there on its base.”


Thus says the Lord of hosts: I will save my people from the east country and from the west country,


Hamath also, which borders on it, Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.


For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?


And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “Out of Zion will come the Deliverer; he will banish ungodliness from Jacob.”


but when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.


For they are your people, your very own possession, whom you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.’
