The Lord rises to argue his case; he stands to judge the peoples.


Listen to me in silence, O coastlands; let the peoples renew their strength; let them approach, then let them speak; let us together draw near for judgment.


Set forth your case, says the Lord; bring your proofs, says the King of Jacob.


I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you.


he who vindicates me is near. Who will contend with me? Let us stand in court together. Who are my adversaries? Let them confront me.


let the wicked forsake their way and the unrighteous their thoughts; let them return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.


Thus says the Lord: What wrong did your ancestors find in me that they went far from me and went after worthless things and became worthless themselves?


Again, when the wicked turn away from the wickedness they have committed and do what is lawful and right, they shall save their life.


None of the sins that they have committed shall be remembered against them; they have done what is lawful and right; they shall surely live.


Hear, you mountains, the case of the Lord, and you enduring foundations of the earth, for the Lord has a case against his people, and he will contend with Israel.


And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days argued with them from the scriptures,


Every Sabbath he would argue in the synagogue and would try to convince Jews and Greeks.


And as he discussed justice, self-control, and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said, “Go away for the present; when I have an opportunity, I will send for you.”


But law came in, so that the trespass might increase, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,


I said to him, “Sir, you are the one who knows.” Then he said to me, “These are they who have come out of the great ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.


Now, therefore, take your stand so that I may enter into judgment with you before the Lord, and I will declare to you all the righteous acts of the Lord that he performed for you and for your ancestors.
