Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight; none was left but the tribe of Judah alone.


until the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, as he had foretold through all his servants the prophets. So Israel was exiled from their own land to Assyria until this day.


If their children are multiplied, it is for the sword, and their offspring have not enough to eat.


I have winnowed them with a winnowing fork in the gates of the land; I have bereaved them; I have destroyed my people; they did not turn from their ways.


Take warning, O Jerusalem, or I shall turn from you in disgust and make you a desolation, an uninhabited land.


Look, O Lord, and consider! To whom have you done this? Should women eat their offspring, the children they have borne? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?


You invited my enemies from all around as if for a day of festival; and on the day of the anger of the Lord, no one escaped or survived; those whom I bore and reared, my enemy has destroyed.


Woe to them, for they have strayed from me! Destruction to them, for they have rebelled against me! I would redeem them, but they speak lies against me.


Once I saw Ephraim as a young palm planted in a lovely meadow, but now Ephraim must lead out his children for slaughter.


Ephraim is stricken, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit. Even though they give birth, I will kill the cherished offspring of their womb.


For the one who does this, may the Lord cut off any witness or advocate from the tents of Jacob or anyone who could bring an offering to the Lord of hosts.


According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for every day a year, you shall bear your iniquity, forty years, and you shall know my displeasure.’


For the Lord had said of them, “They shall die in the wilderness.” Not one of them was left, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.


“Cursed shall be the fruit of your womb, the fruit of your ground, the increase of your cattle and the issue of your flock.

In the street the sword shall bereave, and in the chambers terror for young man and woman alike, nursing child and old gray head.

Now the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him.
