The silver from the guilt offerings and the silver from the sin offerings was not brought into the house of the Lord; it belonged to the priests.


Those who have clean hands and pure hearts, who do not lift up their souls to what is false and do not swear deceitfully.


To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.


The dogs have a mighty appetite; they never have enough. The shepherds also have no understanding; they have all turned to their own way, to their own gain, one and all.


Mortal, these men have taken their idols into their hearts and placed their iniquity as a stumbling block before them; shall I let myself be consulted by them?


For any of those of the house of Israel or of the aliens who reside in Israel who separate themselves from me, taking their idols into their hearts and placing their iniquity as a stumbling block before them and yet come to a prophet to inquire of me by him, I the Lord will answer them myself.


You have plowed wickedness; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your chariots, in the multitude of your warriors,


Ephraim has said, “Ah, I am rich; I have gained wealth for myself; in all of my gain no offense has been found in me that would be sin.”


Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.


And so the priest, anointed from among Aaron’s descendants as a successor, shall prepare it; it is the Lord’s—a perpetual due—to be turned entirely into smoke.


The priest who offers it as a purification offering shall eat of it; it shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of meeting.


Its rulers give judgment for a bribe; its priests teach for a price; its prophets give oracles for money; yet they lean upon the Lord and say, “Surely the Lord is with us! No harm shall come upon us.”


Oh, that someone among you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not kindle fire on my altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord of hosts, and I will not accept an offering from your hands.


For such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the simple-minded.


they must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for sordid gain what it is not right to teach.


And in their greed they will exploit you with deceptive words. Their condemnation, pronounced against them long ago, has not been idle, and their destruction is not asleep.


Why then look with greedy eye at my sacrifices and my offerings and honor your sons more than me by fattening yourselves on the choicest parts of every offering of my people Israel?
