When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless.


So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran again to the well to draw, and she drew for all his camels.


But he said to me, ‘The Lord, before whom I walk, will send his angel with you and make your way successful. You shall get a wife for my son from my kindred, from my father’s house.


So he came near and kissed him, and he smelled the smell of his garments and blessed him and said, “Ah, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that the Lord has blessed.


Then prepare for me savory food, such as I like, and bring it to me to eat, so that I may bless you before I die.”


Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear,


and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will surely give one-tenth to you.”


May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and numerous, that you may become a company of peoples.


then come, let us go up to Bethel, that I may make an altar there to the God who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.”


the angel who has redeemed me from all harm, bless the boys, and in them let my name be perpetuated and the name of my ancestors Abraham and Isaac, and let them grow into a multitude on the earth.”


Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a spring; his branches run over the wall.


Yet his bow remained taut, and his arms were made agile by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, by the name of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,


All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them, blessing each one of them with a suitable blessing.


These are the descendants of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.


And Solomon said, “You have shown great and steadfast love to your servant my father David because he walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward you, and you have kept for him this great and steadfast love and have given him a son to sit on his throne today.


The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel. (He was the firstborn, but because he defiled his father’s bed his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel, so that he is not enrolled in the genealogy according to the birthright;


I keep the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.


The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.


Trust in the Lord and do good; live in the land and enjoy security.


“Go and assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has appeared to me, saying: I have given heed to you and to what has been done to you in Egypt.


“so that they may believe that the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”


Sweet is the sleep of laborers, whether they eat little or much, but the abundance of the rich will not let them sleep.


This is what I have seen to be good: it is fitting to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of the life God gives us, for this is our lot.


All human toil is for the mouth, yet the appetite is not satisfied.


And when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”


they will live on the heights; their refuge will be the fortresses of rocks; their food will be supplied, their water assured.


and they shall be spread before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have followed, and which they have inquired of and worshiped, and they shall not be gathered or buried; they shall be like dung on the surface of the ground.


Both of them were righteous before God, living blamelessly according to all the commandments and regulations of the Lord.


So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.


Indeed, this is our boast, the testimony of our conscience: we have behaved in the world with holiness and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God—and all the more toward you.


This is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God, blessed the Israelites before his death.


As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to walk in him,


urging and encouraging you and pleading that you lead a life worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.


By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, “bowing in worship over the top of his staff.”
