Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh, “For,” he said, “God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father’s house.”


To Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, bore to him.


Then Joseph removed them from his father’s knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
