Now there was a famine in the land. So Abram went down to Egypt to reside there as an alien, for the famine was severe in the land.

Even though you intended to do harm to me, God intended it for good, in order to preserve a numerous people, as he is doing today.


lest the land from which you have brought us say, “Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land that he promised them and because he hated them, he has brought them out to let them die in the wilderness.”
