He drove out the humans, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a sword flaming and turning to guard the way to the tree of life.


Next she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a tiller of the ground.


Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, for she said, “God has appointed for me another child instead of Abel, because Cain killed him.”

Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.


Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man by sleeping with him.


We must not be like Cain, who was from the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous.
