Now the people of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.


But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him, “You are about to die because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a married woman.”


Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart; furthermore, it was I who kept you from sinning against me. Therefore I did not let you touch her.


Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, “What have you done to us? How have I sinned against you, that you have brought such great guilt on me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that ought not to be done.”


Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his house, who had charge of all that he had, “Put your hand under my thigh,


And although she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not consent to lie beside her or to be with her.


You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command; only with regard to the throne will I be greater than you.”


On the third day Joseph said to them, “Do this and you will live, for I fear God:


When the mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord,


David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan said to David, “Now the Lord has put away your sin; you shall not die.


The former governors who were before me laid heavy burdens on the people and took food and wine from them, besides forty shekels of silver. Even their servants lorded it over the people. But I did not do so because of the fear of God.


But I said, “Should a man like me run away? Would a man like me go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in!”


For I was in terror of calamity from God, and I could not have faced his majesty.


Against you, you alone, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are justified in your sentence and blameless when you pass judgment.


“You shall not commit adultery.


So is he who sleeps with his neighbor’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.


But he who commits adultery has no sense; he who does it destroys himself.


I found more bitter than death the woman who is a trap, whose heart is nets, whose hands are fetters; one who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is taken by her.


Therefore thus says the Lord: I am going to send you off the face of the earth. Within this year you will be dead, for you have spoken rebellion against the Lord.”


All who found them have devoured them, and their enemies have said, “We are not guilty, because they have sinned against the Lord, the true pasture, the Lord, the hope of their ancestors.”


“If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.


“When any of you sin and commit a trespass against the Lord by deceiving a neighbor in a matter of a deposit or a pledge or by robbery or if you have defrauded a neighbor


But if you do not do this, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out.


But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required, and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.


Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.


not stealing, but showing complete and perfect fidelity, so that in everything they may be an ornament to the teaching of God our Savior.


Let marriage be held in honor by all, and let the marriage bed be kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.


Those who have been born of God do not sin because God’s seed abides in them; they cannot sin because they have been born of God.


But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, the murderers, the sexually immoral, the sorcerers, the idolaters, and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”


Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
