the sons of God saw that they were fair, and they took wives for themselves of all that they chose.

But when she brought them near him to eat, he took hold of her and said to her, “Come, lie with me, my sister.”

“I have made a covenant with my eyes; how, then, could I look upon a virgin?

Turn my eyes from looking at vanities; be gracious to me according to your word.

My child, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

You will be saved from the loose woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words,

lest you give your honor to others and your years to the merciless,

for a prostitute’s fee is only a loaf of bread, but the wife of another stalks a man’s precious life.

She seizes him and kisses him, and with impudent face she says to him:

Therefore the showers have been withheld, and the spring rain has not come, yet you have the forehead of a prostitute; you refuse to be ashamed.

at the head of every street you built your lofty place and prostituted your beauty, offering yourself to every passer-by and multiplying your prostitution.

Adulterous wife who receives strangers instead of her husband!

So you were different from other women in your prostitutions: no one solicited you to prostitute yourself, and you gave payment, while no payment was given to you; you were different.

But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!

for all that is in the world—the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, the pride in riches—comes not from the Father but from the world.
