When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Get up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or else you will be consumed in the punishment of the city.”


The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.


When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he struck him on the hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.


Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the thigh muscle that is on the hip socket, because he struck Jacob on the hip socket at the thigh muscle.


Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim and resided there; he went out from there and built Penuel.


So they took the bull that was given them, prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon, crying, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no voice and no answer. They limped about the altar that they had made.


For I am ready to fall, and my pain is ever with me.


and they saw the God of Israel. Under his feet there was something like a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness.


God did not lay his hand on the chief men of the Israelites; they beheld God, and they ate and drank.


And I said, “Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”


But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.

For who is there of all flesh that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the fire, as we have, and lived?


Then Gideon perceived that it was the angel of the Lord, and Gideon said, “Help me, Lord God! For I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face.”


But the Lord said to him, “Peace be to you; do not fear; you shall not die.”


From there he went up to Penuel and made the same request of them, and the people of Penuel answered him as the people of Succoth had answered.
