Now Lot went up out of Zoar and settled in the hills with his two daughters, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar, so he lived in a cave with his two daughters.


So Joseph found favor in his sight and attended him; he made him overseer of his house and put him in charge of all that he had.


But Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord.


Then they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord their God, who brought their ancestors out of the land of Egypt, and embraced other gods, worshiping them and serving them; therefore the Lord brought this disaster upon them.’ ”


He answered them, “You faithless generation, how much longer must I be with you? How much longer must I put up with you? Bring him to me.”


Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her.


What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?


My anger will be kindled against them on that day. I will forsake them and hide my face from them; they will become easy prey, and many terrible troubles will come upon them. On that day they will say, ‘Have not these troubles come upon us because our God is not in our midst?’


David said in his heart, “I shall certainly perish one day by the hand of Saul; there is nothing better for me than to escape to the land of the Philistines; then Saul will despair of seeking me any longer within the borders of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand.”
