Lot looked about him and saw that the plain of the Jordan was well watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar; this was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.


Now the Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some fell into them, and the rest fled to the hill country.


So the men turned from there and went toward Sodom, while Abraham remained standing before the Lord.


And Lot said to them, “Oh, no, my lords;


Hurry, escape there, for I can do nothing until you arrive there.” Therefore the city was called Zoar.


But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.


Now Lot went up out of Zoar and settled in the hills with his two daughters, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar, so he lived in a cave with his two daughters.


Now therefore come, let me give you advice, so that you may save your own life and the life of your son Solomon.


Then he was afraid; he got up and fled for his life and came to Beer-sheba, which belongs to Judah; he left his servant there.


I lift up my eyes to the hills— from where will my help come?


Flee! Save yourselves! Be like a wild ass in the desert!


He spoke to the congregation, saying, “Turn away from the tents of these wicked men and touch nothing of theirs, or you will be swept away for all their sins.”


But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?


For life is more than food and the body more than clothing.


And Jesus said to him, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”


how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? It was declared at first through the Lord, and it was confirmed for us by those who heard him,


Saul sent messengers to David’s house to keep watch over him, planning to kill him in the morning. David’s wife Michal told him, “If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”
