Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, bore him no children. She had an Egyptian slave whose name was Hagar,


He went in to Hagar, and she conceived, and when she saw that she had conceived, she looked with contempt on her mistress.


The angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit to her.”


And God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Do not be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.


But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”


And the Lord said, “What have you done? Listen, your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground!


When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then there came a voice to him that said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”


At that place he came to a cave and spent the night there. Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”


He went in and stood before his master, and Elisha said to him, “Where have you been, Gehazi?” He answered, “Your servant has not gone anywhere at all.”


If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your post, for calmness will undo great offenses.


When the old man looked up and saw the wayfarer in the open square of the city, he said, “Where are you going, and where do you come from?”


Now, therefore, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it is the Lord who has stirred you up against me, may he accept an offering, but if it is mortals, may they be cursed before the Lord, for they have driven me out today from my share in the heritage of the Lord, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods.’
