Then the Lord said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, in order that the people may hear when I speak with you and so trust you ever after.” When Moses had told the words of the people to the Lord,


The Lord said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the Israelites: You have seen for yourselves how I spoke with you from heaven.


And when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”


To whom, then, will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him?


A voice cries out: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.


A voice says, “Cry out!” And I said, “What shall I cry?” All flesh is grass; their constancy is like the flower of the field.


With him I speak face to face—clearly, not in riddles, and he beholds the form of the Lord. “Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”


While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!”


And a voice from the heavens said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.”


This is the one of whom the prophet Isaiah spoke when he said, “The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.’ ”


Then he wrote on the tablets the same words as before, the ten commandments that the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain out of the fire on the day of the assembly, and the Lord gave them to me.


you approached and stood at the foot of the mountain while the mountain was blazing up to the very heavens, shrouded in dark clouds.


He declared to you his covenant, which he charged you to observe, that is, the ten commandments, and he wrote them on two stone tablets.


“Since you saw no form when the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire, watch yourselves closely,


Has any people ever heard the voice of a god speaking out of a fire, as you have heard, and lived?


From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, while you heard his words coming out of the fire.


“These words the Lord spoke with a loud voice to your whole assembly at the mountain, out of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, and he added no more. He wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.


The Lord spoke with you face to face at the mountain, out of the fire.


And the Lord gave me the two stone tablets written with the finger of God; on them were all the words that the Lord had spoken to you at the mountain out of the fire on the day of the assembly.


He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation,


and the sound of a trumpet, and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that not another word be spoken to them.
