Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared and set it before them, and he stood by them under the tree while they ate.


Binding his foal to the vine and his donkey’s colt to the choice vine, he washes his garments in wine and his robe in the blood of grapes;

“Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against you and cast your law behind their backs and killed your prophets, who had warned them in order to turn them back to you, and they committed great blasphemies.


They will not look on the rivers, the streams flowing with honey and curds.

He grants peace within your borders; he fills you with the finest of wheat.


Many bulls encircle me; strong bulls of Bashan surround me;

He shall eat curds and honey by the time he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good.


and will eat curds because of the abundance of milk that they give, for everyone left in the land shall eat curds and honey.


You shall eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the princes of the earth—of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bulls, all of them fatted calves of Bashan.


I led them with cords of human kindness, with bands of love. I was to them like those who lift infants to their cheeks. I bent down to them and fed them.


Hear this word, you cows of Bashan who are on Mount Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to their husbands, “Bring something to drink!”


Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock that belongs to you, which lives alone in a forest in the midst of a garden land; let them feed in Bashan and Gilead as in the days of old.


All the best of the oil and all the best of the wine and of the grain, the choice produce that they give to the Lord, I have given to you.


“Because you did not serve the Lord your God joyfully and with gladness of heart for the abundance of everything,


And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress, as high as a horse’s bridle, for a distance of about one thousand six hundred stadia.
