So Esau settled in the hill country of Seir; Esau is Edom.


Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed; trembling seized the leaders of Moab; all the inhabitants of Canaan melted away.


Terror and dread fell upon them; by the might of your arm, they became still as a stone until your people, O Lord, passed by, until the people whom you acquired passed by.


In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.


And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”


Be careful, then, how you live, not as unwise people but as wise,


‘You have been skirting this hill country long enough. Head north,


“You shall not abhor any of the Edomites, for they are your kin. You shall not abhor any of the Egyptians, because you were an alien residing in their land.


so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world,


Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time.
