Now, let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take care what you do, for there is no perversion of justice with the Lord our God or partiality or taking of bribes.”

If you do abuse them, when they cry out to me, I will surely heed their cry;


learn to do good; seek justice; rescue the oppressed; defend the orphan; plead for the widow.


Leave your orphans; I will keep them alive, and let your widows trust in me.


Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses; we will say no more, ‘Our God,’ to the work of our hands. In you the orphan finds mercy.”


“If any of your kin fall into difficulty and become dependent on you, you shall support them; they shall live with you as though resident aliens.


Moreover, if you go with us, whatever good the Lord does for us, the same we will do for you.”


so that you may be children of your Father in heaven, for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.


yet he has not left himself without a witness in doing good, giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons and filling you with food and your hearts with joy.”


“ ‘Cursed be anyone who deprives an alien, an orphan, or a widow of justice.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
