Woe to those who make iniquitous decrees, who write oppressive statutes,


to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of my people of their right, to make widows their spoil and to plunder orphans!


The Lord enters into judgment with the elders and princes of his people: It is you who have devoured the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.


What do you mean by crushing my people, by grinding the face of the poor? says the Lord God of hosts.


One commits abomination with his neighbor’s wife; another lewdly defiles his daughter-in-law; another in you defiles his sister, his father’s daughter.


But when they came to the nations, wherever they came, they profaned my holy name, in that it was said of them, “These are the people of the Lord, yet they had to go out of his land.”


I will not punish your daughters when they prostitute themselves nor your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery, for the men themselves go aside with prostitutes and sacrifice with female attendants; thus a people without understanding comes to ruin.


You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law: she is your son’s wife; you shall not uncover her nakedness.


You shall not give any of your offspring to sacrifice them to Molech and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.


You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife; it is the nakedness of your father.


I myself will set my face against them and will cut them off from the people, because they have given of their offspring to Molech, defiling my sanctuary and profaning my holy name.


Hear this word, you cows of Bashan who are on Mount Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to their husbands, “Bring something to drink!”


Therefore because you trample on the poor and take from them levies of grain, you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not live in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.


For I know how many are your transgressions and how great are your sins— you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe and push aside the needy in the gate.


Hear this, you who trample on the needy, and bring to ruin the poor of the land,


They covet fields and seize them, houses and take them away; they oppress householder and house, people and their inheritance.


The women of my people you drive out from their pleasant houses; from their young children you take away my glory forever.


The officials within it are roaring lions; its judges are evening wolves that leave nothing until the morning.


For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the gentiles because of you.”


It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you and the sort of sexual immorality that is not found even among gentiles, for a man is living with his father’s wife.
