He read from it facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand, and the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.


They stood up in their place and read from the book of the law of the Lord their God for a fourth part of the day, and for another fourth they made confession and worshiped the Lord their God.


Now after he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.


Then he took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”


Then they told what had happened on the road and how he had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread.


Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb.


When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors were locked where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them.


They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.


Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts,


Then Paul went upstairs, and after he had broken bread and eaten, he continued to converse with them until dawn; then he left.


Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to warn everyone with tears.

A young man named Eutychus, who was sitting in the window, began to sink off into a deep sleep while Paul talked still longer. Overcome by sleep, he fell to the ground three floors below and was picked up dead.


After they had set a day to meet with him, they came to him at his lodgings in great numbers. From morning until evening he explained the matter to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the law of Moses and from the prophets.


The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?


But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I but the grace of God that is with me.


On the first day of every week, each of you is to put aside and save whatever extra you earn, so that collections need not be taken when I come.


proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage with the utmost patience in teaching.


I was in the spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet
