They came to Jesus and saw the man possessed by demons sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had had the legion, and they became frightened.


for Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many times it had seized him; he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the wilds.)


Then people came out to see what had happened, and when they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they became frightened.


But the evil spirit said to them in reply, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”


When this became known to all residents of Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks, everyone was awestruck, and the name of the Lord Jesus was praised.


Jumping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.


They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, for people are slaves to whatever masters them.
