On the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.


Because of this Moses gave you circumcision (it is, of course, not from Moses but from the patriarchs), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.


In those days Peter stood up among the brothers and sisters (together the crowd numbered about one hundred twenty persons) and said,


Then the apostles and the elders, with the consent of the whole church, decided to choose men from among them and to send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leaders among the brothers,


with the following letter: “The brothers, both the apostles and the elders, to the brothers and sisters of gentile origin in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greetings.


Since we have heard that certain persons who have gone out from us, though with no instructions from us, have said things to disturb you and have unsettled your minds,


So they were sent on their way by the church, and as they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, they reported the conversion of the gentiles and brought great joy to all the brothers and sisters.


Judas and Silas, who were themselves prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the brothers and sisters.


But some believers who belonged to the sect of the Pharisees stood up and said, “It is necessary for them to be circumcised and ordered to keep the law of Moses.”


When they heard it, they praised God. Then they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands of believers there are among the Jews, and they are all zealous for the law.


for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and will change the customs that Moses handed on to us.”


Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me.


For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that counts is faith working through love.


It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who try to compel you to be circumcised—only that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.


Therefore, do not let anyone condemn you in matters of food or drink or of observing festivals, new moons, or Sabbaths.


Watch out that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
